I think I may have overworked my cake metaphors here, but you get the point: This is a Wednesday! The cluing is also in that sweet spot of not-too-easy while featuring witty wordplay clues to sink your teeth into. It’s certainly not a piece of cake, but the theme (described below) is a little easier than a typical Thursday theme while remaining more complex than the ones on Mondays and Tuesdays. I think this puzzle is the epitome of a Wednesday. Wednesday is traditionally one of the harder days for themed puzzles.
